Based in East Anglia, I am an active member of Norfolk OC.

I am available for mapping projects regionally and further afield, including surveying and mapping new orienteering areas, re-maps, and updates for both forest and urban areas.

I have experience in planning and implementing permanent orienteering courses and mapping schools.

Project overview

Broadland Country Park

An extensive re-mapping of a large Country Park in Norfolk comprising of several parcels of forest ranging from conifer plantation, oak woodland, and open marshland.

Methodology

01

Base map

Once the scope of the project has been agreed the first step is to create a base map of the area. This will include processing lidar data and the objective is to create a workable map to take into the field ready for surveying.

02

Survey

Using the base map as a starting point, time is spent in the field modifying and refining the map. Depending upon the size and terrain of the area this could be anywhere from one to several days.

03

Refining the map

The map is then updated following on from the surveying and any further data processing is carried out.

04

Finished map

Working editable copy of the final map is delivered in OCAD or OOM format. Any future surveys for potential updates can be planned in.

If you would like to discuss a potential mapping project or to see any map examples, please don't hesitate to get in touch by email or phone.
